High-Precision Gyro Surveying for Blast Holes
GyroScout™ is an ultra‑light, compact continuous‑measurement gyroscope developed specifically for blast hole QA/QC. With a diameter of only 32 mm (1.25") and a length of 950 mm (37.4"), it is one of the slimmest gyroscopic instruments on the market. Weighing just 2.4–2.6 kg (5.29–5.73 lbs), it is extremely portable and easy to handle in the field.

Designed for borehole deviation control, GyroScout™ helps reduce explosive overuse, ore dilution, overbreak and flyrock risks. It surveys the entire blast hole trajectory in minutes without slowing down drilling. The intuitive NaviBlast™ software generates traceable auto‑reports and can be operated by any crew member from day one with no complex training.

Since GyroScout™ uses gyroscopic technology instead of the Earth’s magnetic field, it delivers accurate azimuth and inclination readings even in magnetically disturbed environments. It works reliably at any angle from -90° to +90° (vertical to horizontal), making it ideal for both underground and surface blasting operations.

The instrument is built with titanium and premium components to withstand demanding underground conditions. It operates at temperatures from -10°C to +60°C (+14°F – +140°F) and depths up to 2,900 psi. The internal rechargeable lithium‑ion battery provides up to 24 hours of continuous use, while the handheld device offers an additional 20‑hour battery.

GyroScout™ connects via Bluetooth® and instantly synchronises survey data to SPT SmartCloud™ through Wi‑Fi or 4G LTE. Detailed reports can be generated at any interval and exported in PDF, Excel, CSV, LAS or DXF formats, with 2D/3D graphics. The cloud platform enables full traceability, remote collaboration, chained hole surveying, and 3D visualisation of blast rings.
