GyroMasterâ„¢ Evo
GyroMaster™ Evo is a north‑seeking gyro tool designed for mineral exploration and directional drilling, delivering true azimuth measurements by sensing the Earth’s rotation. This eliminates reliance on magnetic north and removes interference from surrounding steel casing or magnetic formations, providing accurate and verifiable survey results. Engineered as a compact, single‑module instrument, it incorporates an integrated battery and eliminates external cables and threading, reducing setup time and potential failure points.
One of the key operational advantages of the GyroMasterâ„¢ Evo is its ability to connect directly to the overshot, enabling a full borehole survey to be performed simultaneously with core recovery in a single run. This approach significantly reduces rig time, simplifies operational workflows, and lowers the risk of errors associated with multiple runs. Survey data can be exported in multiple formats (PDF, Excel, CSV, LAS, DXF) and uploaded to the SPT SmartCloudâ„¢ platform via WiFi or 4G LTE for centralized QA/QC tracking and secure remote access. The tool supports slickline deployment on diamond drilling (DD) and reverse circulation (RC) rigs and can also be used for wedge orientation and core retrieval (CR) applications.
The unit’s technical specifications include an outer diameter of 42 mm, a length of 1107 mm, and a weight of 5.9 kg. It offers azimuth accuracy of 0.16° (1σ) and typical positional accuracy of 0.1 % at total depth (TD), depending on the well profile and centralization. The operational depth pressure rating is 35 MPa (5,100 psi), and it functions over a temperature range of –30 °C to +70 °C (–22 °F to +160 °F). The integrated lithium‑ion rechargeable battery provides a minimum operating time of 8 hours, while the companion handheld device offers up to 20 hours of operation, with an IP68/IP69K rating.
